AI
The AI desk covers where artificial intelligence and crypto actually meet — decentralised compute and DePIN networks, on-chain agents, model provenance, and the data-centre and semiconductor buildout financing both industries. It also covers AI as a market: the capital flowing into it is now large enough to move the same risk assets crypto trades alongside.
What we track on this desk
- Compute and infrastructure. GPU supply, data-centre capacity and the power constraints on both — the hard limits behind most AI announcements.
- Decentralised networks. Projects distributing compute, storage or inference, and whether the network does what the token claims it does.
- Enterprise adoption. Deployments with named customers, as distinct from partnerships announced without one.
- Capital flows. Funding rounds, chip orders and the balance-sheet commitments behind them.
- Policy. Model rules, compute export controls and the emerging supervisory interest in AI-driven financial services.
How to read an AI story here
This category has the widest gap between announcement and delivery of anything we cover. A partnership, a letter of intent and a signed contract are routinely reported in the same language, and a “deployment” is often a pilot with one team. Our stories say which stage a thing has reached, and where the source does not make that clear, we say that too.
Token projects claiming AI capability need the sharpest scepticism. Decentralised compute is a genuinely hard engineering problem and the number of networks credibly solving it is much smaller than the number claiming to. Where independent publishers disagree on whether a network is operational, the story is Disputed.
