Reports on a Strategy bitcoin sale, the Bybit hack, ETF inflows tied to the Coldcard breach, and a Bitcoin bug-bounty audit each carry figures that contradict a same-day counterpart.
Strategy's Bitcoin Sale
CryptoBriefing and U.Today, alongside CoinTurk, both published on 10 August about a Strategy Bitcoin sale connected to an STRC buyback, but they describe different transactions as the latest news, giving coin counts of 1,638 and 1,690. Separately, a report citing The Block put the sale at 1,690 BTC and tied it to Strategy's USD reserve rising to $4.65 billion, a figure carried onward by eight publishers including Decrypt, CryptoPotato, Investing.com Crypto and Bitcoin.com News.
The 1,690 figure therefore appears in the wider spread of reporting, while the 1,638 figure sits inside the narrower CryptoBriefing/U.Today/CoinTurk cluster. That breadth of corroboration is a fact about circulation, not proof of accuracy. The Block's account is itself a news report, not a company filing or primary disclosure, so nothing here settles which count Strategy's actual transaction ledger would confirm. The conflict stands: two figures, two clusters of outlets, no primary document among the material reviewed.
Bybit Hack ETH Total
crypto.news and Decrypt both covered Bybit's lawsuit against North Korea over the February 2025 hack, a story also picked up by Coincu, Crypto Daily and UNLOCK Blockchain. The two lead outlets give different figures for how much Ether was drained in that hack. Neither the crypto.news nor the Decrypt account in this material cites Bybit's own incident disclosure or a blockchain-forensics report as the source of its number, so there is no primary document here to arbitrate between them. The amount stolen therefore remains reported two ways, both attached to the same lawsuit and the same underlying event.
ETF Inflows and the Coldcard Hack
The Daily Hodl and Coinfomania, in coverage also carried by Decrypt and Yahoo Finance, both reported on Bitcoin ETF inflows in the aftermath of the Coldcard hardware-wallet hack, but the two accounts diverge twice over: once on the size of the ETF inflow total, and again on the scale of losses from the Coldcard breach itself. That is two separate numeric disagreements sitting inside what is nominally one story. Nothing in the material indicates which outlet drew its inflow figure from exchange-traded fund flow data directly versus a secondary aggregator, and neither hack-loss figure is traced to a statement from Coldcard itself. Both numbers, on both counts, remain open.
Bitcoin Red Team Audit
Decrypt and Unchained both covered the volunteer Bitcoin Red Team's AI security audit, and both quote the same pseudonymous coordinator, identified as Calle, on the record. Despite quoting the same named source, the two outlets give conflicting numbers for repositories scanned, findings disclosed, and the rate of critical bugs found. Quoting an identical source and still diverging on the figures attributed to that source is a more specific kind of conflict than the others in this edition — it suggests the discrepancy sits in how each outlet transcribed or contextualised Calle's numbers, rather than in two different underlying events. The material available does not include a transcript or written statement from Calle that would show which outlet's figures track his words more closely.
In all four cases the disagreement is between named news organisations, not between a report and a primary document, so this edition records the conflicts rather than resolving them.
