Morning Briefing: Bitcoin Trades the Fed, Not Itself, as CLARITY Act Odds Lengthen
Bitcoin above $65,000 on rate expectations rather than crypto demand, Grayscale puts the CLARITY Act beyond 2026, and the best-corroborated story of the day was a…
The Briefing desk is the only place on this site carrying work we wrote rather than reported. Everything else here begins with somebody else’s story and counts how many independent publishers confirm it. A briefing runs the other way: it starts with stories this newsroom has already published and corroborated, and asks what they add up to.
That is why briefings carry no publisher count. Asking how many outside outlets corroborate our own analysis would be a category error — nobody else wrote it. What they carry instead is the list of stories each one is built from, with the corroboration each of those already earned. That is a stronger provenance claim than a count, and it is checkable in a way an unsourced opinion column is not.
Every briefing names the stories underneath it and links to each one. If a claim in a briefing matters to you, follow it back: the underlying story shows which publishers reported it, when each filed, and whether anyone contradicted it. Nothing in a briefing should have to be taken on our word alone, and if a briefing ever asserts something with no story behind it, that is a fault worth telling us about through Corrections.
Briefings are analysis, not advice. They describe what happened and what it plausibly means. They do not tell anyone what to buy, and a briefing that reads like a recommendation has been written badly.
A wire desk answers “what happened”. It cannot answer “what does this week mean”, because that question needs a view across stories rather than within one. The corroboration data this site collects makes that view unusually well-founded — we know which claims held up and which quietly never got a second source — and leaving it unused would waste the most interesting thing here.
Start with the Verification Center for how corroboration is counted, or Markets and Regulation for the reporting the briefings are built from.
