Bitcoin is the oldest and largest cryptocurrency, launched in January 2009 by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto. Its supply is capped at 21 million coins and issuance halves roughly every four years, which is why the halving is treated as a scheduled monetary event rather than a market rumour. This page collects our Bitcoin coverage, newest first, with the count of independent publishers behind each story shown alongside it.

What we track on this desk

Bitcoin coverage splits into a few recurring threads, and most individual stories are an instance of one of them:

• Institutional flows. Spot ETF creations and redemptions, corporate treasury purchases, and custody arrangements at regulated venues. These move slowly and are reported in filings, which makes them unusually checkable.
• Miner behaviour. Hashrate, difficulty adjustments, and whether miners are selling or accumulating. Miner sales are a real supply overhang and are visible on-chain.
• Large-holder movement. Whale transfers and dormant-wallet reactivations. Worth reporting, easy to over-read: a transfer to an exchange address is not the same as a sale.
• Macro sensitivity. Rate expectations, inflation prints and dollar strength. Bitcoin has traded with risk assets more often than against them, whatever the store-of-value framing says.
• Policy. Regulatory decisions that change who can hold it and how.

How to read a Bitcoin story here

Price stories are the easiest to publish and the least reliable. A move of a few percent almost always attracts an explanation, and that explanation is frequently invented after the fact — which is why our coverage attributes a cause only where a publisher has actually reported one, and why a single-source story carries a visible Unproven label until others confirm it.

On-chain claims deserve particular care. Exchange inflows, whale movements and supply metrics come from analytics providers whose methods differ, so two firms can report opposite things about the same day. Where sources disagree we mark the story Disputed and show who takes which side rather than picking one.
